Advances in digital technology have opened up opportunities for the agricultural sector to adopt the Smart Agriculture concept to improve land management effectiveness and production yields. One important parameter in crop cultivation is soil moisture level, as this condition significantly influences plant growth and development. Conventional soil moisture monitoring is often inefficient because it requires labor and time, and cannot provide continuous information. To address these issues, this study proposes the application of Internet of Things (IoT) technology as a means of automatic and real-time soil moisture monitoring. This study uses a system design approach that utilizes soil moisture sensors to obtain data on growing media conditions, a microcontroller as a data processor, and an internet network as a communication medium between the device and the user. Data collected by the sensors will be sent directly to the monitoring platform so that information about soil conditions can be easily accessed through internet-connected devices. With this system, users can conduct remote monitoring and obtain information more quickly than manual methods. The results of the study indicate that the IoT-based monitoring system is capable of providing real-time soil moisture data with a high level of ease of access. Implementation of this system can help farmers in determining irrigation needs more precisely, optimizing water use, and increasing the efficiency of agricultural land management. Therefore, the use of IoT technology in soil moisture monitoring is a potential solution to support the implementation of modern, effective, and sustainable smart agriculture.
