Analisis Efisiensi Energi dan Kualitas Transmisi Data pada Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) untuk Sistem Informasi Akademik

Perkembangan teknologi jaringan nirkabel telah mendorong penerapan Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) dalam berbagai bidang, termasuk pendidikan tinggi. Namun, tantangan utama dalam penerapan WSN pada sistem informasi akademik terletak pada keterbatasan energi dan kualitas transmisi data yang memengaruhi reliabilitas sistem. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efisiensi energi dan kualitas transmisi data pada WSN dalam mendukung sistem informasi akademik agar diperoleh model jaringan yang optimal, efisien, dan berkelanjutan. Metode: Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan studi kuantitatif eksperimental dengan simulasi menggunakan Network Simulator 3 (NS-3). Tiga protokol komunikasi—LEACH, HEED, dan PEGASIS—diuji pada jaringan dengan variasi 10, 20, 30, dan 40 node. Parameter yang dianalisis meliputi konsumsi energi, Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Throughput, dan End-to-End Delay. Hasil: Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa LEACH memiliki efisiensi energi terbaik dengan rata-rata konsumsi daya 12–15% lebih rendah dibanding HEED dan PEGASIS. HEED memberikan PDR tertinggi (97,8%) menunjukkan reliabilitas transmisi terbaik, sedangkan PEGASIS mencatat delay terendah pada jaringan kecil. Secara umum, peningkatan jumlah node menyebabkan kenaikan konsumsi energi dan penurunan throughput pada semua protokol. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemilihan protokol harus disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan operasional sistem akademik; LEACH unggul dalam efisiensi energi, HEED dalam kestabilan transmisi, dan PEGASIS dalam kecepatan komunikasi. Penelitian lanjutan disarankan mengembangkan model hibrida yang menggabungkan keunggulan ketiganya untuk implementasi smart campus yang efisien dan adaptif.
