Introduction to Informatics Research: Concepts, Methodology, and Role in Information Technology Development

Research is a crucial aspect of the advancement of knowledge, including within the field of informatics. Informatics research plays a vital role in generating innovative solutions to various information technology challenges—such as software development, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analysis, and information systems. This article aims to explain the fundamental concepts of informatics research, the stages of research methodology, and the field's role in supporting the evolution of information technology. The study employs a literature review approach, examining various books, scholarly articles, and relevant reference materials. The findings indicate that an understanding of research methodology is essential for conducting research that is systematic, objective, valid, and scientifically sound. Furthermore, informatics research serves as the foundation for creating technological innovations that address the needs of society, industry, and the education sector. Consequently, mastering research concepts and methodologies is a necessary competency for students and researchers in the field of informatics.
