Utilization of Sales Data Analysis to Optimize Stock Management and Product Promotion Strategies in Web-Based Perfume Stores

Abstract

The competitive nature of the online perfume store business requires efficient inventory management to avoid overstocking and understocking, as well as targeted promotional strategies. Historical sales data is a strategic asset, but it is often not optimally utilized in decision making. This study aims to develop a sales data analysis model that is integrated into a web-based Business Intelligence (BI) system. The main objectives are to help perfume stores optimize product availability, adjust promotional strategies based on consumer behavior, and improve operational efficiency through a data-driven approach. This study uses a descriptive-exploratory design by analyzing 10,450 sales transaction data. Data analysis methods include time series analysis to identify trends, inventory turnover analysis for inventory management, and the Apriori algorithm to discover promotional patterns. The analysis results are implemented into a web-based BI dashboard and evaluated using the System Usability Scale (SUS). This study successfully identified fast-moving products (e.g., Floral Blossom) and slow-moving products (e.g., Sweet Vanilla). It was found that discount promotions (22.5% increase) and bundling (17.8% increase) were the most effective strategies for increasing sales. The developed BI dashboard system was proven to reduce manual analysis time by 65% and obtain. This study successfully identified fast-moving products (e.g., Floral Blossom) and slow-moving products (e.g., Sweet Vanilla). It was found that discount promotions (22.5% increase) and bundling (17.8% increase) were the most effective strategies for increasing sales. The developed BI dashboard system was proven to reduce manual analysis time by 65% and obtained a SUS score of 83, which is categorized as “very good.” This study concluded that integrating sales data analysis into a web-based BI system effectively transforms transactional data into strategic insights. This system has been proven to optimize inventory management, promote effective promotional strategies, and provide valid decision-making tools for perfume store management.
